Lance- Thanks so much for your detailed response and insight. Like your brother-in-law, I too have been riding since a kid, and have owned some 56 motorcycles since 1958. My two remaining bikes are a ´92 Harley FLHS and a ´93 Yamaha 750 Virago, both bought new. I never thought I´d see the day I was actually considering a scooter (yikes), but at my age (63) I´d kinda like something to putt around in with ease and lack of any fore thought. :-) In my heart of hearts the Yamaha name puts me more at ease, as the dealer network is certainly strong, as is the parts situation. That being said, I´m probably leaning toward the Majesty, although I have yet to ride one. I find it interesting that the Majesty outweighs the Atlantic, with a smaller engine to boot, so I´m wondering just how much slower (off the line) it actually is. Should I go that route, I´ll probably wait for the 06 models to come out, as the small savings I could get in buying a "leftover" 05 probably wouldn´t be worth it. Plus, I like the new colors too! It´s unfortunate the Majesty carries only a 12 month warranty here in the US, whereas the Aprilia offers 24 mos. Could this speak to the overall reliability? Who knows? I´ll take another look at the Majesty (on the dealer floor) and see how the ergonomics stack up, than take it from there.
