BMW OIL OR ANY NAME BRAND 15-40

hey guys just bought an 04 dakar and I love it by all means. I only have 21,000 km on it and I am wondering if I should be using BMW oil or a good name brand 15-40 weight oil. Gladly welcome any thoughts!
