2004 R1150R Rockster Oil Usage |

My Beemer which I bought in 2007 with 385 miles currently has 5,500 miles and is still consuming almost 1 quart of BMW non-synthetic oil every 1,000 miles. Is this normal? A friend told me not to run the engine below 3,000 rpm and to vary the engine speed to redline and back. Apparently, higher crankcase oil pressure will assist the piston rings seat? I just had the BMW 6K service and opted to have all the fluids changed given the bikes age. Any inputs you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you, MFD |
