I have a 2002 Bandit 600S which I am part-exchanging for a DL650. I test rode the bike (not a new one but one the shop has used as a runabout for 8 months) and loved it straight away. It feels much lighter than the Bandit (it is about 25kg less) and with a lower centre of gravity it is a doddle to handle. It felt less hesitant when accelerating (that´s the injection I suppose) and more sure footed especially on white lines. I spoke to the shop staff over a cup of tea and they said that most people that rode the DL1000 found them (a) too heavy and (b) too lumpy an engine. The 650 is responsive and has a fair bit more torque than the Bandit but is down on power in comparison - not that you´d notice especially (stick an aftermarket can on like a Holeshot to get an extra 4-5 BHP). Can´t wait till Saturday when I collect mine!!
