how much oil does the bike hold?

Hey, couldnt find the window, and didnt know if there was any oil in it, so I put in a bottle of oil...then I found the window. It´s way full over the top line, and I read that can be a problem. How much does it hold? My Savage is a 1988, but I think they have not changed too much over the years. Thanks, you can email me at Jmeisnor@aol.com or just dummy
