599 is not starting...

I was away during Nov-Dec 2004 and did not winterize the bike as I should have...(big slap on my hand, won´t do it again). I left it in an indoors garage with a full tank.

Now I´m trying to ride again, but it just won´t start. After a few initial tries, the battery gave up. I recharged the battery successfully (with a trickle charger). But it got discharged again after 10 - 15 tries.

After recharging the battery again (for 2 days), I then proceeded to drain the carburators and attempted to start it with no success: the battery lost its charge again.

Is this a battery problem or something else? I would hate to spend $100 dollars on a new battery and encounter the same problem.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Cheers...
