Dave,

I cannot answer your questions. However, I am looking at the Rebel 250 as a first bike to cut my teeth on before moving up in size. From my research, the Rebel may not be powerful enough to pull both you AND your wife. Not saying it is a better bike, but have you looked at the Suzuki S40 (formerly known as the Savage)? It weighs about 350 pounds and has more HP and torque.
