G,day everyone. I left a message in the gt650S section a while ago but haven´t had a response. I just want to know if the fairing of the GT650S will fit on a 2004 GT650 Comet. I think the new models are digital instruments, so I don´t know if the bikini fairing for the top will fit on. The headlight obviously needs removing as well. On a different note, I´ve had the Gt650 Comet for around 3 months now. When I bought it I had the straight through sports muffler fitted from the shop. In fact the muffler was already fitted to the bike when I looked at it. I must say the exhaust note is much beefier than the standard muffler. Sounds Boss! Gets a lots of looks coming up the street. Had many people also comment on what a nice bike it is. I have´nt had many bikes in my time, in fact my last bike was a honda cruiser. I wanted to get into the performance bike scene, but I didn´t have a lot of money. In fact I sold my last bike because I had to go overseas for 6 months to get visas for my fiance to come to Australia to get married. I ended up seeing the ad for the Comet GT650 in a bike magazine my mate had bought the day I arrived back in Australia. The very next day I went to the local dealer to have a look at one. Bought it the next day! Being realistic, it certainly isn`t the most powerful thing on the street, but bang for buck I am impressed. As a mechanic myself, I have modified the standard jetting in the carbies to suit the muffler and give it a bit more sting. With a few simple mods it made quite a difference! If you want to know a few details of the mods leave a message, but if you are not mechanically minded I don´t recommend doing them yourself, as once you modify the jets, and you get it wrong, it is difficult to go backwards. As it stands, the bike uses a little bit more fuel (unless you use full throttle everywhere, in which case plan stops between fuel stations) but not an excessive amount extra when riding normally. Most of the time I have the missus on the back, so I can´t really race around anyway without copping a bash on the back of the helmet! As an overall bike I am impressed with the value for money, and have not regretted buying the bike. They handle well when you want to have a bit of fun, and are also good for a long distance run. Most of the bugs which have been written in the road tests disappear after 2500km, such as crunchy gear changes (which hyosung have already supplied me with an improved shift linkage). The brakes however do remain a bit woody. I have the standard pads and braking system still, which although is adequate to stop the bike, even under speed, could be better. Maybe better pads or rotor or different master cylinder will improve this problem. I hope someone out there can answer my question about the fairings, but if anyone wants to know more, just leave a message in the discussion group section. Cheers!
