I have a Daelim Daystar from December 2002 |

This bike was my first ever bike and i do not have any regrets when buying it. First of all it is a very cheap bike, and this helped me a lot since i was at that time (and still i am) a university student. I just love it, even because although it is as 125cc it is a rather massive bike, and in fact, many people ask me if it is a 500cc or bigger, due to its similarities to Honda Shadow. since I use this bike on a day-to-day basis, I would consider fuel consumption, and this is none. this bike runs with absolutely no fuel, this is dramatic when considering the amount of traffic on Maltese roads where we are always stopping and reparting due to a large number of stops and lights, and because all of our roads are rather short when compared to the ones in foreign countries. When it comes to driving this bike, i have a lot of positive comments. First of all, it is rather easy to handle and bend, so it can give the driver a bit of sports pleasure too. secondly, it is comfortable to sit and drive, no matter hoew long one is, (I am a 6 footer myself). The bike has some fancy extras, which i mounted on mine after 6 months that i bought, and it is amazing how much the bike seems bigger and more aggressive with the extras. i mounted everything except for the wind screener (i hate it because it makes my bike like a police-cops one). Well, the bike has some negative aspects too. after a few months that i bought it my battery did not work, and i got to know that it was wrong from the factory, and in fact there were around other 10 like it, but now they are all ok, this is no more concurrent problem. The other thing i do not like in this bike is that when you are going fast, that is reaching 110km/h the engine seems to be needing another gear since it still outputs power and it induces the driver to search for the next gear too. one must keep an eye on the rear drum-break(there are models with rear disc-brake) since it tends to loosen itself rather often, if used a lot. This bike is great in hills and slopes, in fact i keep changing gears like if i am driving on a flat road. All in all a Great Bike for a Cheap Price. A bike that stands near other models such as Hondas, yamahas and even Harleys, for a photo. it is absolutely great, but keep in mind it is only a 125cc. |
