I have owned,and ridden my 04 S4R for 9.000 km, and I´m enjoying every ride as much as the first. For me, it´s the PERFECT bike. I live in Norway,where speedlimits are low (max highway speed 100 kmh!), and speeding tickets are ridicously high! You have to pay more for speeding, than you have for posessing illegal drugs in small quantities.
So a bike with little wind protection,and a "sporting" seating position, makes perfect sense.You don´t want to ride at the speeds where a GSX-R1000,or similar bikes, are "comfortable" for any length of time here. Because you could get a speeding ticket and/or loose your driving license in the process.
I live in the countryside, where the roads are twisty and narrow. The Monster S4R is equally at home on such roads,as in a urban environment.
My bike have got the "mandatory" carbon exhaust,and I have replaced most of the plastic parts with carbonfibre pieces. And a titanium clutch- and front sprocketcover. More stylish rearwiew mirrors and mini turnsignals round it off!
