Hi!
The one you have is restricted, the earlier models had 145-148hp/8500rpm and 117Nm/7500rpm but where often also restricted to 100hp/7500rpm and 103-114Nm/3000-6000rpm. A mechanic friend of mine said that the restriction is in carburaetors made by longer throttle pistons to make full throttle impossilbe(if i remember correctly), these are replaceable. Anyhow there is more power to gain in your bike if you like! I myself hired one in Thailand with aftermarket cans, i am sure they didn´t tune it up just to scare the customers, but i have to say that when i took it to the highway, i felt the most extreme low torque i had ever felt, and it pulled even harder the more you reved it, this is a real dragster. Riding the V-max has been a dream of mine sience it came out, it was also a memmorable moment for my girlfriend as it was her first ride on a big bike and she weighs only 85 pounds i might add.
