Whats up bro. Im 18 yrs old and my r1 is my second bike. i started with a suzuki gsxr600 then moved up to my r1 but now that i look back theres not much of a difference in power untill higher rpm´s and top speed so just about any bike would be cool for you to get for you to start off with, just ride safe man. the weight differece is no more than 100lbs from a 600cc and im a pretty short guy and have been able to handle both just fine so i would go for it. good luck
