2003 Mean Streak Backfiring

I just turned 500 mile on my 2003 Mean Streak. About 100 miles ago it starting intermittently backfiring with constant acceleration at low RPM (1500-2000). Similar experience, causes or cures? Note I went through a tank of gas to ensure it wasn´t bad gas.
