smoking when left on side stand!

I bought this 2003 bmw last april with 21000 miles. Now it has 28000 or so, and when left on the side stand, at time when started it will smoke....Any idea as to what causes it....Help.. Is it a major issue to which the engine has to be removed....? Any comments, idea, know how to fix is welcome. Thank you.
