Hi,

Im 21, 5´7" and 135 pounds. Im a beginner too and I presently ride a Yamaha TTR-125L. It´s my first bike. It´s my second year in the off-roading world. At the end of the summer, I will probably buy a KTM 250 EXC-Racing.

The KTM 250 EXC-Racing may be a good bike for you but it depends on what you want. If you want something light, easy to ride and tougher than your XR, go for it. But if you want someting a lot more performant, I suggest you to take a look on the KTM 200 EXC and 250 EXC (these are 2-stroke) or (if you want to stay in 4-stroke) for the KTM EXC 400 and 450. But the 4-stroke bikes will be much more heavier. The 250s (2 or 4-stroke) is nearly the same weight than your XR and the 250 2-stroke gives really good performances.

I think that the KTM 250 EXC-Racing will be more performant than your XR without being a killing machine.
