Is your chain lubed and adjusted properly? As for the fuel switch, it is hard to read. I just remember that the side that points should face what you desire. I use my tripometer as a fuel gauge. When I hit 100 mi, I switch to reserve and fill up. Then, I reset the trip, and switch back to the on pos., and away I go. Hope this helps.
