I have had a 2003 Suzuki SV1000 for a few thousand miles. I bought it new for $6,249.00 at the end of the 03 riding season. I could not believe my good fortune but I read a lot and keep my eyes open so luck is being prepared to act when the time is right. They don´t make the naked bike any more. I got lucky again as I like the naked bike. Compared to the Speed Triple it has more low end torque. Son says the SV will wheelie easier than Triple. More usable torque low revs. Son also says SV will rev higher than Triple. Triple has a smooth, even power band. Triple is a LOT more expensive and Triumph dealer does not discount like local, Toledo area, Suzuki dealer. That thing about not having character, where did you hear that ****? Must have been a Harley rider with the patented noise character. The kid says it goes over 140, I can´t remember how fast I rode it but that seems about right. I´ve been riding a Rocket III. It´s nice too. Son´s girlfriend is learning to ride on the SV1000. Oh yeah, I read some dumb ****reviewer discuss character. What he meant was that the bike was so refined it didn´t have any defects that the rider had to develop unique skills to overcome. That is the character problem, it´s too damned refined. Even an old fart like me can ride it skillfully and with confidence. It´s a keeper.
