My son has a honda XR100 and it works fine for him. I don;t think it will go much faster than 45-50mph, but that is plenty fast for any teenager. My son has just turned 16 and I do find the bike is getting a bit small for him due to his height (5´9"). Personally a good beginner bike, but for a 16 year old.. may be a bit small
