Should a VFR800 V4 thump like a twin? |

My brother just picked up a ´04 VFR800Fi (Red). He absolutely loves it (in the garage). He doesn´t like the way it jerks when he shifts. As a result, he´s only put 187 miles on it in 2 months. He asked me to give it a try. :-) 1st through 3rd were difficult to keep smooth but tolerable. After that, it mellowed out. The thing I noticed and struck me odd was that under hard acceleration in the upper gears, 4th-6th, with the rpms below 6,000, it thumped like a twin. So much so that I checked for 4 cyls when I returned. I have an inline 4 750 and it revs much smoother than his. Is that typical of a V4? Or should I have him have the dealer take a look? Thanks. |
