| That´s definately a scare tactic to have him mod your bike. While all he states are GOOD improvements they´re hardly REQUIRED. You can make those kind of investments into any production bike out there if you want to own a SUPERBIKE. This is a GREATLY understated bike. If your wanting to canyon carve or tour it´ll do both well, it´s the riders skill that makes a difference. This is not a factory racer. If your just a daily driver like me whom occasionally enjoys a short tour or weekend doing a couple trackdays then it´s fine just the way it is. It´s easy to maintain, predictable handling, rock steady at 150mph, what more do you want. If your not trying to beat Matt Maladin or win an IronButt rally I´d definately recommend one. They stopped making them because of the slow sales in the states. As a matter of fact if you want a new out of the crate bie they are still available from the dealership as a special order. They are much more popular in europe, so much so that they continued the model line into 2004. In the states the insurance costs extremely inhibit interest in the younger sporting market because of the 1000+ displacement. I´m sure some of that has to do with the fact that we don´t have a graduated licensing system here and any squid can buy one and wreck it leaving the dealership. There´s no skill test required to ride one legally. Driving insurance claims throught the roof if your a male, under 25, the bike is over 1000cc´s, & you have no experience. |
