Recent new owner. 2001 Buell Blast for GF. Had Two-Brothers E-series pipe and Dyna Jet kit installed.
I don´t believe any performance or weight savings advantage that would negate the team stealth motto.
So along with the purchase, I got the stock pipe and the stock jets back (still in the Dyno-jet box.) It also had the big knurled pilot mixture screw installed. I know from KLR experience this is a bad idea as they tend to vibrate loose.
Put the stock pipe back on.
Installed the stock needle and the stock main jet with mixing tube.
Did not have the stock mixture screw so I removed the screw from a similar carburetor KLR-250 34mm CVK rather than a 40mm.
Used the o-ring and washer from the KLR carb on the idle mixture screw.

Now it idles fine at about 2.5 turns out.
BUT,
It backfires while running down the road. At sustained speed it will Pop loudly out the exhaust. I suspect it is running lean and causing this.
The jet kit I removed had an adjustable needle and had three shimming washers installed on top of the circlip. On the bottom it would have raised the needle, on the top just a place to store them I´m guessing. Dyno jet needle was in the middle position, Sorry I don´t know what size the needle or jet was.
I reinstalled the stock needle without shim. I suspect this could be contributing to the back fire.
I´m fairly technical but looking for some help thinking outloud while I´m away from the bike. Currently in Malaysia on business and won´t get back to if for a week or so.
Suggestions or thoughts? Please e-mail me. remove the *no-spam* from the address line.
Thanks in advance.
