The Honda SL230 is such a rare bike outside of Japan that it may seem as if you are alone with your beautiful bike. I don´t read the forum much because there is so little activity there. I think that what is needed is a dedicated website for SL230 owners with stories of rider´s adventures and technical info, and of course a forum.

I bought the SL230 for it´s looks and the fact that it is a gentleman´s bike so what it lacks in thrills it makes up for in good manners. I am not tough enough for enduros so this is all I need for gentle greenlaning and exploring the countryside. I have lost interest in greenlaning in the UK due to the legislative hassle and endless controversy over the activity. I am beginning to feel like a foxhunter. Like some of the foxhunters I have started to shift my operations to the Republic Of Ireland where people are more friendly and there are less busybodies and regulations to bug you.

I was heartbroken when my bike was recently stolen by joyriders and recovered in a trashed state. So many parts were missing or broken that any sensible person would decide that it is a write off. That is not even taking into account the engine which may have a burnt out clutch or worse. Disheartening though this is I do feel as defiant as the citizens of New York who have vowed to rebuild the twin towers. I am now collecting used parts from a Japanese aution that I shall tell you about later and have spent £400 already. I do not care about the cost of restoring my bike. I cannot let it be crushed or broken up because that would mean the hooligans have won.
