| Hey Russ, Good to see another owner piling on the k´s... Mines just hit 8500 odd k. To the best of my knowledge there are no physical "restrictor´s" on the SS, however, it is in an incredibly lazy state of tune. What you are looking at is a G,H,J long stroke GSX-R 1100 mtr, go for a run on a good one of these and you´ll see what I mean in regard to "lazy" The SS has 32mm(?) carbs, very "soft" cams with ignition and cam timing to suit, basically the bike has been set up to be a mid-range grunter, a title it rises to admirably... It has a limiter on the speedo which stops the speedo reading any higher than 180 kph, it does not, however, stop the bike accelerating passed this speed as some people have been led to believe. This can be removed with a very simple resistor mod that your dealer should do free of charge... Again, to the best of my knowledge, there are no known restritors in the CDI, short of it´s lazy advance curve and low rev limiter setting (9.5k rpm), again, all things that can be changed by having what you´ve got modified, or, using GSX-R bits... As I said in my original appraisal of the bike... "Theres a ton of power locked up inside that motor..." and IMHO 125 to 130hp at the rear wheel should be a relatively easy and cheap output to acheive without compromising the all important "reliability". Ultimately, it, depends on what you are using the bike for, I, personally ride in some pretty impressive company, mainly GSX-R 1000´s, a Hayabusa and quite a few big Jap and Italian V-Twins, most of which are ridden by guys who have several years racing and road riding experience. The SS, aquit´s, itself well in such company, but like most guys "more-power" wouldn´t hurt !!! and I must confess to a certian amount of satisfaction when you´ve just "sucked the doors" off a bike worth twice the money yours is through a group favourite bit of road on your modestly powered "Jappa" !!!!!!
