Hey Kerry, Have to agree with Klark... An absolutely phenomanal(?) bike. The 28 mm Flat-slide carbs are getting VERY hard to get parts for, so, make sure the thing idles properly from as near as damn it to cold.... The early GSX-R engines are "mechanically" noisey, to the point where the untrained ear will think AAAArrrrggghhh.... Most of the noise comes from seized or partially seized cam chain tensionerĀ“s... Very common and a good bargining point... Expect the thing to ride like a big two stroke, very peaky, and very little power under 7k rpm.... Finding a good one is a hard thing to do, given there pedigree... But IMHO they are the penultimate "japanese classic" and properly restored would, and do, fetch some seriously crazy money back in Japan (upwards of 2.5 million yen) If you want to do a quck turn-over jobby on it, let me know Cheers fornow Wheeliemonsta |
