I havent had any major backfiring, just a hesitation at 3500rpm and light popping when throttling off. Some minor outward turns on the mixture screws sorted both. The GSX-R muff still has more back pressure than a free flow yoshi so my adjustments were definately going to be minor in comparison. I have a Yoshi on my womens 600 bandit (same fit for 600/1200) which i put on but was too damm loud! The mounting clamp was too far forward to actual look good as well.
The mid pipe I used was 1/2 gsx-r and 1/2 600 bandit. The yoshi never fitted well into the standard header pipe joiner and was gonna ruin my gasket tryin to fit it. I cut the flange and lower bolt mount bracket off the old 600 muffler which fits perfectly and bolted it up. Then I bolted on the gsx-r muff to the upper muffler mount and altered to gsxr four bolt flange pipe section to fit both, tack welded it, made the final cuts and welded it good and proper. I joined the two where the exhaust valve would be on the gsxr. Has anybody weighed the standard SS pipe? Jeeze it weighs a ton!
As for the PAIR valve I am currently converting it to a scavenger pump to create a vacumm in the crancase ventilation. Being a longer stroke motor I will try and see if it has an effect on these engines by taking the hose from the pair valve off the air box (pluggin box) and move it to the breather outlet. I will let you know... I probably should dyno it on/off. More dosh ....sigh
