Got my Bonneville in December. Have about 7K on the clock now. I guess the longest trip was 115 miles, done in one fell swoop, on a very brisk February morning. We arrived in 65 minutes from time of departure. Aside from numb body parts (from wind chill) I was fine. It´s a smooth bike at highway speed, and quite stable with cross winds too. Gets about 50 mpg at standard cruise, slightly less when romping on the throttel. One thing I´m changing is the wheels. They are just not as round as they should be. Tires are okay (forgot what they´re called). I´m just going to burn them off and apply some nicer ones to the new wheels I get for it. The label says the wheels are made in Italy, but I´ve heard (upon good authority) they are actually assembled on the north coast of Africa somewhere and final adjustments made in Italy. Pardon me but they suck. I also had a rear wheel bearing failure at about 1,400 miles; finding out they are pretty cheesy sealed units costing about $10.00 each. There´s a lot better product out there they could have used. I love the bike, it rides nicely and gets me around well. I drive it quite a bit, and it´s also well received. I have a blast with it and would have no worries about long trips or overnight jaunts. GO for it! And keep the shiny side up!
