Are you having electrical problems with your Daytona? I was..... |

Last year I bought a 2002 Daytona here in Thailand. Got it cheap because although it ran fine, the fuse box got hot after a couple of minutes and would blow fuses..... and no one here could fix it properly. But I bought the bike anyway because of coaching i recieved on a triumph website called T595.net I replaced the rectifier. The voltage coming out of it was now fine, but by the time it came into the battery it was low and causing the fuse box to get hot. So we ran an additional wire from the output side of the rectifier directly to the battery. Fuse box cool as a cucumber now. second issue: the wire coming out of the alternator melted at the connector where it plugs into the main wiring harness of the bike. we discovered a recall from the Triumph factory for this issue. Turns out the wire from the alternator to the main harness was just not heavy enough and so melted on some bikes. We installed a heavier wire and a new connector and problem solved. The bike has run perfect for a year now. And boy is this bike fun! I have had 30 bikes over the years.... from small nakeds to a CBR 954RR, but I love the triple. |
