Fuel System issue

Bought this awesome iron a couple months back and have enjoyed every one of the 2600 miles that I´ve quickly amassed. About 5 or so tanks of gas or so ago I started to get some gasping at idle when I stop at a light. Accompanying that are unsteady rpms at the low end of every shift. Also the few pops that I usually get downshifting become a few more. In general the rideability deteriorates. THIS PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE FUEL LEVEL DROPS TO ABOUT HALF A TANK AND IMMEDIETLY CEASES WHEN I REFUEL. The shop geeks that I´ve asked say they have to look at it. I think that the info given would point directly to one or two things definetly. What do you folks think? Thanks in advane for any input.
