Hey, I´ve been thinking of doing the same thing on my ´02. I use my bike as transportation. The best thing I´ve found is to add an after market sixth gear. I know that it sounds like a stupid idea, cramming another gear into that box but it can be done safely, and you won´t have to sacrifice your low- end torque.
