I have an 02 dr 650, my friend has an 04 dr650, I just bought mine a week ago, and we thought we had the same exact machine, but after driving each others, both have been purchased used, we believe both to be stock but have not confirmed this. after driving each machine we found that our bikes run completly different than each others. my 02 seems to have less torq but a higher rpm range of power, his 04 seems to have more low end torq and not much of an rpm range, that being said i was having trouble to pop my 02 dr ina wheelie in 2nd gear, my friend thought oh your just not doing it right, after he rode it he then said wow your bike runs completly diffrent, as i said the same thing about his bike. what i would like to know is, what are the diffrences between the an 02 dr650 and an 04 dr650. most websites say there identical, riding them proves that to be false. diffrent weight flywheel? different cams? any info would be great, not that theres an issue with mine vs his newer bike, but i would like to know why they run so differently thanks
