Is it my transmission or clutch which went out???

Is it my transmission or clutch which went out???

I was at a corner and turned right when the light turned green. Started out okay but I couldn´t go into 2nd. Or 3rd, 4th, 5th or back into 1st. Nothing. I think I may have heard some ´gear grinding´ down by the brake lever, but no guarantees on that. At this point it won´t go into any gear. When I pull the clutch lever, it seems to be moving okay but not engaging. I´m not a mechanic, but I follow instructions pretty well. Before I start tearing it down, is there a way to tell whether it´s the clutch or the transmission; or something else? Thanks.
