I bought my 02 VFR 2 years ago and love it. Great for commuting and those Sunday rides. I have 6K on the OD and have not replaced tires yet (soon though. Nothing spent on maint, except for two services and an oil change. Will try a corbin seat next month, hopefully will lower the seat height and make the riding position even more comfortable. Insurance is a lot cheaper too than most full on sport bikes. I started out at $900 and am now down to $600 with Geico, Progessive is $200 higher ($200 cheaper for my wifes ZZR though). Hope this helps.
