Mick, I´ve got a 2002 uk model and prior to that had a ´97 XJR. I felt the older bike was more stable at three figure speeds. The new bike feels much lighter at the front. I suspect that´s because the wheelbase is shorter as the steering rake is steeper now. Only way to really cure it to get your c of g as low as possible so that means more wieght on the pegs and gripping tighter with your thighs so you don´t pull on the bars making the front lighter still.
Don´t think you´ll cure it with mucking around with the front forks. If you´re really concerned fit a steering damper which won´t stop weaves but will prevent tank slappers. If you´re not old enough to remember the 70´s you won´t realise just how safe and well mannered the XJR is.
