I am a trained Harley-Davidson/Buell Technician, working at Cycle Connection in Joplin Missouri. I am in the process of getting a loan for a Blast, and so I thought I might be able to give you some answers.
The blast is not a "race" bike, but it is very simple and quite reliable. It is not a high-power sport bike, but will outhandle any metric bike that I have ever ridden (i think you´d be surprised!). I am young and single, and plan to ride mine most of the year. We see fewer mechanical or electrical problems with the blast than with any other (Harley) bike that I can think of. If a blast comes into our shop, it´s almost always for maintenance or for a wreck repair, as they are mostly ridden by beginners. They are very simple to work on, are very lightweight, are very fuel efficient, and actually not as expensive to repair as most other motorcycles.
If you´re looking for a race-machine, this is not your bike.
If you´re looking for an inexpensive, efficient, reliable, fun-to-ride bike, this may be the perfect way to get back on two wheels.
As far as vibration, this bike vibrates less than the other buells and Sportsters. As for top speed, I have reached 85, with the throttle pegged open.
Also, keep in mind that most people who are happy with their bikes don´t have any reason to get on a forum board and try to tell everyone about it. The few people who do have problems want the whole world to know about it. Hope this helps!
