Bike is sluggish

Hi,I bought the bike before my 16th last december. I use it to go to and from school most day and was very pleased with it for a few months. However, a couple of months ago I noticed that the bike was becoming slugish and was bogging down on acceleration. For the past few weeks I have had real trouble starting it, especially when it´s wet. At one point I spent 10 mins trying to start the bike only for it to lightly backfire and cut out as soon as I started riding it. Has anyone had a similar problem with their Dna? Also, is there anyone in the South Devon area with a Dna 50 - if so I would be very grateful to hear from someone in a similar positio to me.
