Yeah for sure stantard exhaust systems are very restricting and can cut up to 15% of your bikes performance. If you purchase an aftermarket system have the bike dynotuned too as the new exhaust system will breath better and there for you will have to increase the jet size in your carb to give the bike more fuel to compensate and to get the best performance out of the bike. A cheaper option is to have the back cut off your standard pipes and to have the standard baffle removed and a sports baffle slid in its place. Then the back of the exhaust is refitted and you have a nicer note and better performance. I wanted maximum performance so i had custom pipes made to suit the bike including the headers. It cost a penny but the end result to the dyno sheets was a 14hp gain
