Hi.... It is impressive to see all the data that you have collected on the different bikes,,, and I would like to have more information on the future of the AFRICA TWIN,, since it has been called so many times as “ The most Reliable Bike on Earth”………. Two months ago, I met two guys that were attempting to set a Guinness record for the fastest trip form Alaska to Patagonia; Argentina,,, and the actually did,,,, their name are: Hugh and Nick… They were riding two beautiful Africa Twins….. on a very short conversation we had on the border of Guatemala and El Salvador (Central America)… they told me that they did a very extensive research on the bikes that were an option; among them: 1- R1150 GS, 2- KTM 640 Adventure… 3 and the Africa Twin.. etc… etc. They concluded on the Africa; because of the reliability of the bike trouble free and it’s low maintenance.. Well as we all have heard, and experience on our bikes we Know that this Legendary and robust bike has proven to be one of the best bikes ever built; and it supports it’s reputation on very firm grounds….for this, I raise this question “WILL THERE BE A NEW MODEL FOR THE AFRICA TWIN” one that collects technological and structural advances that it deserves. When will it come? HOW WILL THE NEW DESIGN (LOOK) BE? And if HONDA CORP. HAS REALIZED THE STRENGTH OF THE ANCIETY OF THOSE WHO SPECT TO SEE THE REBIRTH OF THE LEGEND…???? The Varadero Model is no replacement for the AFRICA, since it was conceived mostly as a street tourer; and the new Trans Alp, makes no match for the torque and power that the AFRICA delivers. Going down the funnel again we are awaiting for the REAL AFRICA TWIN UPDATE. KTM wants to expand their markets for that reason they are producing their first V-Twin motorcycle: the LC8 950 Adventure; I just hope HONDA CORP. doesn’t let other brands take advantage of the path that the AFRICA TWIN created. The potential of the market for this Model: XRV 750, in Europe and a very big but untouched in the US and Latin America…and has lacked importance for the Japanese company… Are there any efforts been made to push on the company to retake or realize the project of upgrading the bike???. Who is responsible for this model within Honda Motor Corp.? Who could Know the answer to all this questions…. If some body has the orientation or idea on the future of the Africa ,, please share it with me… Juan Zepeda... El Salvador Central America |
