I have both the 920RH and the 920RJ. My RJ is stock mechanically but now has a full set of bags from a 920 Virago. There were no bags offered for the R models but with minor modifications the hard bags from an ´82 Virago will fit. They are good bags and detach easily. I can send a picture if you are interested. My RH now has a fork, wheel and brakes from an FJ1100. It was not a difficult exchange. The FJ rear wheel has been adapted to fit the rear. I had to take off the enclosed chain and move the counter shaft sprocket out but there is sufficient length to the counter shaft to work once a new means was developed to keep the sprocket on the shaft. The original keyed washer won´t fit with sprocket moved outside the retaining slot. This lowered the profile considerably. Due to limited ground clearance the center stand has been removed and the exhaust relocated. Corner clearance isn´t like a modern sport bike but the engine-chassis-wheel combination fit and look like it belongs together. A tank from an XS750 triple is mated to a custom rear subframe-seat. I am nearly done with the bike and have driven it briefly. I am surprised no one else I am aware of has worked with this excellent OHC twin engine. There are no hop-up parts available but factory items can be used in combinations that give a considerable power gain. (my stock 920RJ posted a quarter mile time equal to that of a Harley Dyna Sport !) If you know more about these R models write me. I am dealing on a third one. |
