they don´t have tons of speed but has climbing power and can easily handle trails like a champ(for an average rider). i take mine on foot trails all of the time and those have some steep hills and it handles them easily, also the low seat height helps in case you need to put your feet down quickly to catch yourself(when you hit a big root the wrong way). but, yeah it is an awesome trail bike and is street legal also.
