I´m riding a 2000 748S biposto and clocked 15000km so far. Awesome little bike. Great personality - sound is unmistakably Ducati. Vibrations stress parts a bit. Mine had a loose gas hose/tank connector at 10.000km. Check for loose screws every now and then - the V2 takes its toll here.
Hardware is a bit odd. Srews are of soft make and may break when trying to loosen them. Had that problem with screws holding mirrors and heel protectors. Be carefull when trying to open them.
Use Dunlop DD207 tires - much better handling than original Pirellis. If not stressed too much will last more than 8000 km and give you a clearly better feel for the bike.
I´ll never sell that bike - even when buying another one!
