I finally discovered that the switch was always in the OFF position due to crappy internal shorting. I finally cut the black and white striped wire and the bike started right up! I then decided that you can just disconnect the black and white striped wire at the CDI unit and it will do the same thing. The purpose of the switch is just to ground out the CDI unit to stop the engine.
