Ignition wires

Hi everyone. I am new to the forum. I own a 1981 CM400C along with my Suzuki M109. Bikes at two different ends of the spectrum but I enjoy riding both equally as much. My question is, are the ignition wires removable from the coil? I suspect intermittent ignition problems and would like to replace the wires. The coil/wire set, sold under a single part number from Honda, is no longer available. I have new plug caps on the way and I see they simply screw into the ends of the wires. I suspect the other ends of the wires simply screw into contacts in the coil but I am hesitant to start twisting and yanking until I get more info. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
