I unhooked myne years ago, I do not exactly remember how, but i do know i attatched two of the wires to the switch together to bypass it. I ran the wires up under the seat to the storage box in front of the tail light, should that ever give me trouble, but it has not. However, REMEMBER to kick up the stand! as I am short and that bike sits kinda tall, it is easy to forget, and that is a real problem. Any ? ya can email me....
