Just want to let you guys know that I replaced the original Yamaha starter with an off brand that has four(4) carbon brushes instead of the two(2)in the original and it works great. The electrical configuration is different (it has a permanent magnet instead of the inductive one in the original Yamaha starter)and it´s more powerful. It apparently utilizes the battery power more efficiently, by not having to energize the magnet. Physically it looks a little different, but it fits right in. |
