Hi Tom, Your bike is a nice machine but it is quite different from my old 1982 Katana. I believe you have a four valve per cylinder engine , two oval throat carburetors instead of my four CV carbs,better suspension, etc. In other words your bike was a next generation sport bike. The D in MD probably designates your bike as an 84 . I am not an expert on your bike, this is just what I have come across while searching for information about my bike.
