I take them, I still have my LTD after 6 years and a re-gasket and piston rings job (both at the same time), I have dismounted the starter for cleaning, re-building, or simply to test it out of the engine, at least 10 times, while the performance fits my riding style (commuting) its an adventure when the starter fails, sometimes it comes back right away, others I have to push start the bike and hope it will start again until I get a chance to tinker with it. I have tried 2 starters from the yunk yard with the same results. I think the problem is not on the starter itself, some thing else causes it.
