Left cylinder not firing until about 7000 rpm |

I bought a Silver Wing a few days ago, knowing that the left cylinder was not firing. Compression check was 145 on both cylinders. The bike starts well and idles with the choke open. Once warmed up, it can be ridden. The left exhaust remains cold to the touch. At about 7000 rpm, a surge is power can be felt (exhaust pipe also heats up). I´m guessing it´s carbureters. I plan on pulling the left one apart this weekend and seeing what it looks like. My last experience wit bikes was Harleys back in the 70´s. This carb look a lot different and has some kind of vacuum slide. I expect that´s where the problem is. Any experience or comments? |
