A chain engine cannot be modified to receive a belt, unles you split the engine and install a belt output shaft $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
you may install a chain sprocket on an engine that was made for a belt sprocket, you will need a special spacer with the chain sprocket , because the outputshaft on a belt engine is longer and the spacer will fill-up the extra lenght.
