This is very typical for older bikes, the problem typically has roots to being improperly tuned. Because it is kick start only, you are at a disadvantage and can only turn the engine over once, perhaps twice per kick. To fix this try gaping the plug slightly larger than prescribed as well as adjusting the valves on a hot engine versus a cold engine. Yes this involves getting burnt a few times, but tuning an engine when it is hot means it will start and run better at an operating temperature. The tradeoff typically is the bike becomes harder to start on a cold engine. To fix this, either advance the timing slightly or richen the fuel to air ratio. Long story short, adjust and tune your bike to how you ride it until you find that perfect spot that suits you. Different riding habits require different tuning, different spark plugs, and different fuel/air ratios.
