I Miss Mine!!!

I found this bike by accident looking at a used Sabre 1100 at a cycle salvage place, Western Cycle Salvage. I struck a deal with the owner where I could make payments while they held the bike. Kind of a layaway deal. I paid 1,800 for it with scratches and about 11k on the odometer. After 3 months of drooling and making my payments I took it home.
The first thing I did was replace the 4 into two crome pipes with a Super Trapp 4 into 1. I can still remember the sound that pipe made. It was wonderful. Next I replaced the clutch with a Barnett racing set. It made a huge difference in the way the bike felt. The only problem was it was so tight that it you failed to get it into nuetral before you stopped, it would walk you into the intersection. Then I jetted the carbs with a K&N Jet Kit. No air box and the pipe made a sweet sound. I´ll tell you, this was the best of many bikes I have owned. I had more fun on that thing. It was pretty fast for a shaft drive S/T. My friend had a 900F and I would walk away from him every time. You could get a good wheelie going into 2nd, and lift the wheel 2 feet going into third. I hit 150 on the Estacada Highway one day.
I traded the bike in on a new FJ1100 in 1986. I wish I hadn´t. The FJ was faster and you could smoke the tire for days, but no wheelies in 2nd or 3rd.
If you can find one of these, buy it, Tweek it and have fun.
